Vice President Shettima calls for African Unity in Combating Climate Change

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged African countries to collaborate in addressing the pressing issues of climate change and its social consequences. He emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and environmental protection as essential steps towards the continent’s overall development.

Speaking at the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2024, Shettima, represented by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, highlighted the need for joint efforts in climate mitigation and adaptation to climate change. He also advocated for technological advancements in agriculture and energy to bolster the continent’s climate resilience.

According to a statement, the Vice President stressed the significance of empowering local innovators and investing in research to develop effective solutions for social impact. He further emphasized the importance of education, vocational training, and digital skills development for African youth.
