In December, the UN University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA) awarded 10 young agritech innovators for their efforts in creating and offering green energy solutions. iSolar, a Ghanaian group, was one of the grant winners through their green energy irrigation system.
iSolar’s green energy irrigation system replaces traditional fuel pumps with solar-powered irrigation technology, guaranteeing consistent water supply to small-scale farmers. According to iSolar’s LinkedIn page, green energy irrigation systems leverage 3.5 megawatts of solar energy. The amount irrigates an impressive 15 acres of farmland within 4-5 hours.
Innovate Agricultural for Technologies (INFoCAT) headed the UNU-INRA grant awards. INFoCAT supports women and youth economic empowerment through the promotion of low-cost, clean, energy-powered tech solutions in Agriculture. Moreover, it aims to create cost & time-saving clean energy agricultural technologies that are affordable, time & labor-saving.
Apart from iSolar, INFoCAT is looking forward to supporting and awarding more women & youth-led companies/start-ups in the long course of promoting clean African climate and green energy technology.
Join iSolar in creating clean agricultural tech as an aspiring entrepreneur. Companies and organizations like INFoCAT, led by the UN, are ready to support your cause.
