Tree Planting Program Launched in Liberia to Fight Climate Change

On September 9, 2024, three international entities signed an agreement for a new tree planting initiative involving the Liberia Carbon Credit Development and Trading Corporation (LibCarbon), Africa Environmental Watch (AEW), and Interstellar Incorporated (Interstellar M2M).

LibCarbon focuses on reforestation and conservation, planting trees to restore degraded land and protect existing forests from deforestation. AEW tackles environmental challenges in Africa, such as water, air, and land issues. Interstellar M2M provides technology to manage assets, including trees, helping achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

This partnership is part of the “Right Tree Program (RTP)” in Liberia, aimed at reducing carbon emissions through strategic tree planting and conservation efforts. The agreement represents a vital step in using natural solutions to combat climate change. The RTP also allows individuals and organizations to honor loved ones by planting trees in Liberia.

The “Right Trees Africa Program” emphasizes choosing the right nature-based solutions to reduce greenhouse gases, ensuring that trees are selected based on their effectiveness in offsetting carbon emissions and their benefits to local communities.
