African Nations and Communities Should Strike Better Partnerships for Quick Sustainable Growth

African nations are among the worst-hit by climate change’s effects. For instance, over 23 million people suffer from the ongoing drought in the Horn of Africa. Therefore, immediate climate mitigation action is imminent to find quicker solutions for the victims.

At the recent G77 Summit in Uganda (21st January), leaders from the region discussed ways of fostering sustainable growth. They necessitated the need for new and improved partnerships between African nations and foreign powers.

Following the shift in global powers, African nations must find consistent partners in the fight against climate change. The partnerships include boosting collaboration with South-South and North-South nations.

The G77 also emphasized private partnerships to foster investment in respective countries’ natural materials. This includes renewable resources, which can help them reach net-zero emissions sooner. Additionally, the involvement of private investors directly improves a country’s economy via youth employment and infrastructure growth around industries like solar power plants.

Therefore, ready solutions are available for all African nations through partnerships with other global developing nations. The South-South and North-South groups are great examples African nations can follow to improve co-existing communities like ECOWAS, COMESA, and SADC
