
The Dangote Oil Refinery is embarking to expand its capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to a record-shattering 1.4 million barrels per day. This monumental leap will officially surpass the Jamnagar refinery in India, making the Nigerian facility the largest in the world.
With current output reportedly at an impressive 610,000 barrels, the refinery is on track to boost production to 700,000 barrels per day by the end of 2025. Therefore, its long term expansion plan. The plan is more than just a technical achievement, experts labelling it a national and continental game-changer.
By meeting Nigeria’s entire domestic fuel demand and generating a surplus for export, the refinery will drastically cut the nation’s reliance on imported petroleum products. As a result, the move could save the country billions annually.
